Why is this term such a shock to some? Would you spend time alone with a total stranger? I am very safety conscious, taking my safety for granted is just not something I am willing to do. There are many ways to screen a potential new friend, mine are rather in depth, but never indiscreet or inappropriate. My policies are for my protection and for the protection of those that I visit with.
